ABOUT THE RESEARCH
During a party, Karine Guizzo was triggered by the beauty of Ellie Bishop and Lorenzo Capodieci's movements on the dance floor. Based on their improvisations, she wanted to experiment with composing a duet on pop music.
“Ellie & Lo” plays with the act of performing and the pure joy of moving, shared with the audience in an intimate setting.
THE PERFORMERS
Ellie Bishop (Vancouver, Canada 1994)
Ellie Bishop is a contemporary dance artist from Canada currently living in the Netherlands. She is a graduate of the Modus Operandi contemporary dance program, and holds a BA in Contemporary Ballet from the Royal Conservatoire of Scotland. She has had the opportunity to work with Company 605, Out Innerspace Dance Theatre, Shay Kueblers Radical System Art, Kirsten Wicklund, and most recently with Lukas Timulak and Karine Guizzo doing research in the studio of the Regentes theatre.
Ellie’s main practice and passion lately has been improvisation. She works on improvising with imagery, physical states, text and character work.
“I love/live dancing because it’s my favourite way to connect to myself and to others.”
Lorenzo Capodieci (Trieste, Italy 1990)
Lorenzo studied dance at Codarts Rotterdam. Since 2014 he worked with Karine Guizzo, Cie Woest, Cecilia Moisio, Katja Heitmann, IDT and, for young audience, with De Dansers, Erik Kaiel, Andreas Denk and Gaia Gonnelli and more. Karine has been working regularly with Lorenzo on both commissioned works and independent projects for many years now.
"I love dancing because it always keeps surprising me and, performing, I can celebrate life with my whole self."
